HOLD*BLAST is a concentrated organic chemistry which is added to water. As a surface passivator, HOLD*BLAST chemically changes the active surface of metal to a much less reactive state. Surface corrosion can occur when water wet surfaces react with atmospheric oxygen, or with humidity in the case of a dry blasted surface. This often results in the formation of flash rust, which can be eliminated with the use of HOLD*BLAST. This product passivates the surface to stop the formation of surface rust for long periods of time, often several days.
HOLD*BLAST effectively passivates the surface and is a cost effective, environmentally safe and coating friendly product. This biodegradable product does not leave a film or residue to interfere with coating adhesion.
HOLD*BLAST is an active surface passivator that prevents flash rust for days and days. This product is an easy to use and economical product that stops flash rust. Hold Blast is used in a 1:50 to 1:250 dilution depending on water quality, contamination and environmental considerations. With most potable water use a 1:50 dilution and dilute it even further when using quality water. Using Hold Blast to prevent flash rust only costs pennies per square foot. HOLD*BLAST will not leave a residue that interferes with coating adhesion. Hold Blast is applied with pressure and can be used in the sandblasting process of vapor abrasive systems or after the sandblasting process with a pressure washer.
Q: How does Hold Blast work?
A: Hold*Blast is a surface passivator. If the physical properties and chemical properties of the new layer are right, the layer will protect the bulk from reaction. A similar situation occurs naturally on aluminum.
Q: Do I have to use Hold Blast immediately after sandblasting to prevent flash rusting?
A: You always want to use Hold*Blast right after the surface has been prepared for coating. Flash rusting can take place immediately.
Q: Is Hold*Blast environmentally friendly?
A: Hold Blast is more than environmentally friendly it is also non-hazardous.
Q: Should I be concerned with adhesion of my coating after using Hold*Blast?
A: This product does not leave a residue that interferes with coating adhesion.
